Girls paper dolls

Girls seems to be one of the most controversial shows in recent years, but I have to say, I really like it. The frank dialogue is totally hilarious, and it really captures a certain group of early twenty-somethings. (I also have a girl crush on Marnie.) What do you think? Love? Hate? Either way, you have to admit, these paper dolls are pretty rad.

P.S. Downton Abbey paper dolls.

Mindy Kaling's new sitcom

Have you guys heard that Mindy Kaling will star in a new sitcom this fall? "The Mindy Project" is all about a quirky OB/GYN who's trying to figure out her messy dating life. As Salon points out, the premise sounds pretty typical, but Kaling is so awesome and funny (and Emmy-nominated) that the show sounds promising. Here's the trailer. Will you be watching the show?

HBO's new show: Girls

This Sunday, HBO will premiere the new show Girls, about four broke twentysomethings trying to make their way in New York. Written, directed and starred in by Lena Dunham, and produced by Judd Apatow, Girls is "is a much scruffier show" than Sex & the City, says USA Today. I love that frank, funny, real girls are given a voice here, and the critics have been going crazy for it. Here's the trailer... Will you be watching on Sunday?

The Bachelor (with photos)

The Bachelor this season has been wildly entertaining. Have you been watching it? The show's premise is clearly insane, but it's like a train wreck where you can't look away. (Even Alex, who makes fun of me, now asks me to pause it if he goes into the kitchen. Busted.) So, let's take a minute to chat: Which of the final three women do you think should end up with Ben?

Here are photos of the ladies...

Do or Don't: Black nail polish

The other day, I was watching the (surprisingly funny) show New Girl, and the gorgeous character Julia was wearing black nail polish. Instead of looking goth, her black polish looked grown-up and sexy. Since then, black nail polish has been popping up everywhere: pretty girls around town, celebrities at events, even the finalists on The Bachelor. :) What do you think? Would you wear it?

The Bachelor

Have you been watching The Bachelor? I'm totally addicted. The show is pretty bad, but I've gotten sucked in. Even my mom watches it now. Do you watch it?

Ps. Kacie B. for the win.

Sh*t Liz Lemon Says

This video made me laugh out loud.

(My only question is, what about "nerds!")

Tonight: New Girl

Tonight is the premiere of another TV show that looks great: New Girl. Zooey Deschanel plays a nerdy but lovable emotional wreck, who, after a traumatic breakup, moves in with three single male roommates. (Btw, with her huge cartoon eyes and husky voice, no wonder Zooey is every girl's girl crush.) Here's a cute interview with her, below. Will you watch it?

Fall TV show

The new comedy Up All Night starts tonight! It's about a stay-at-home dad (Will Arnett) and career woman (Christina Applegate), who are totally overwhelmed by new parenthood. The trailer made me laugh out loud. It's on NBC tonight at 10pm.

Will you watch it? I'm psyched!

Would you date older?

Have you ever dated an older man or woman? I had never dated an older man before, but Alex is a whopping 13 years older than I am. At first I thought his age might be a deal breaker, but it's worked out (old movies, cooking skills, doesn't mind my under-eye wrinkles:).

Have you ever heard this funny trick? "Divide the older person's age in half, then add seven, and that's the biggest age difference you can have. So if you're 30, the youngest you can date is 22." It's actually a pretty good rule of thumb!

So, I'm curious: Have you ever dated an older man or woman? Much older? Would you rather date older or younger? How old would you go? Is your current partner older than you? I'd love to hear your thoughts...
(P.S. Btw, George Clooney is 50, so he's fair game for any of you older than 32 1/2!)

Dr. Katz show

Have you ever seen Dr. Katz, the genius animated show about a therapist and his grown son? He'll give sessions to his patients, but each patient's voice is actually a famous comedian (Conan O'Brien, Ray Romano, David Cross). One summer, my brother and I got totally obsessed with it and watched it everyday in Michigan. Well, this morning, I came across this clip and couldn't stop laughing.

(Now I'm tempted to buy the dvds and watch the full season:)

Project Runway premiere

Project Runway's new season starts tonight! Yahoo, I can't wait. Are you going to watch it?

Just 'cause.

Bachelorette finale (with live commenting)

Woo hoo, tonight is the finale episode of The Bachelorette! Who do you think Ali will choose--Roberto, Chris or neither? I think Chris...but who knows? I have a feeling there will be lots of twists and turns.

I'd LOVE to do "live commenting" during the finale episode. Just come to this post from 8-10 EST tonight, and we can gossip and chat during the show. It would be really fun to watch it with you guys; I'm so excited! xoxo

The Bachelorette

Confession: I'm embarrassingly addicted to The Bachelorette. (I know.) Have you guys been watching it? The reality show, where one woman tries to find love among 25 guys, is sooo compelling. On my Glamour blog, I used to do "live commenting" during the finale episode, so everyone could chat about it as it aired. Would you guys ever want to do that here on Cup of Jo? The finale is in two weeks (Monday, August 2nd)!

P.S. Which guy would you pick?

Jamie Oliver

Have you guys seen the new show, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution? The British chef wants to completely revamp the United States school lunch programs by serving fresh, real foods, instead of fries and chocolate milk. I watched all three episodes on Hulu this past weekend, and the show is amazing and compelling with such a great mission. (Plus, his accent and rumpled hair are completely adorable.)

Emma miniseries

Have you been watching Emma, the new PBS miniseries? It started last Sunday night, and it's AMAZING. Emma is so charming and adorable with her gossip and matchmaking, and the show stays really true to the book. And don't worry if you missed the first episode; you can watch it online here. I absolutely love it!

30 Rock

Jack: You’ve been avoiding me, Lemon.
Liz: How do you do that without turning around?
Jack: To be perfectly honest, the first couple of people I did that to were not you, but…here we are.

(The new season of 30 Rock starts January 14th. Get psyched.)

What do news anchors do during commercial breaks?

This, apparently. I can't decide if it's insane or genius. Or a little of both.
