What are your plans for this weekend? My friends Jason, Patrisha and I went to see the Paris Opera Ballet perform "Giselle" on Wednesday—it's their first time dancing in New York in sixteen years. It was absolutely breathtaking, and we were totally moony over the principal dancer, Dorothee Gilbert. Also, the Bachelorette finale is this weekend! Who are you rooting for? (I love Jef.) Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web...
Alex wrote an article for last Sunday's New York Times about how hard it can be to make close friends in your thirties and forties. The astonishing thing is what a nerve his story has hit. The article has been viewed a gazillion times and is getting a record number of comments. It's fascinating to realize how many people feel the same way.
Today's giveaway is from Confetti, a beautiful new collection by Brooklyn-based designer Alice Cheng. Her tops, dresses and bottoms are feminine and effortless. Today she's giving one lucky reader her Dolman Sleeve Dress in hibiscus. (It also comes in cobalt.) Wouldn't you love to wear it to dinner on a warm summer evening?
When it came to burgers, I never really understood what all the fuss was about. People were always over-the-moon about them, and Alex would order them at restaurants every single chance he got. I just didn't love them.
New York has been HOT this week. Like humid, sticky, 99-degrees-but-feels-hotter hot. And when you need a break after a long day, the best thing to do is...have a margarita. Happily, the lovely Kate from the whole foods blog Cookie + Kate shares her favorite recipe below...
The Nova earrings set from Elephantine is so pretty. You get three pairs of tiny studs: white, blush and black. (There's something so sexy about little black earrings.) Wouldn't they be lovely to wear year-round, choosing the colors to suit your mood? xo

On her brilliant blog, photographer Ourit Ben-Haim takes photos of New Yorkers reading on the subway—everything from the Bible to Lolita to Star Wars. There's something vulnerable and intimate about these shots, don't you think? It feels like witnessing a private moment.
My friend Jenny is expecting her first baby (a little girl!) in September, but as her bump grew, she didn't know what to wear. So! Just for fun, we decided to do a little makeover...
What are your plans for the weekend? We're going mini-golfing with Toby and getting San-Francisco-style burritos the size of our heads. Hope you have a good one, and stay cool! Meanwhile, here are a few fun links from around the web...
Today's giveaway is from the Marigot Collection, a gorgeous line of cotton pajamas and cashmere sweaters. Today they're giving one lucky reader a pair of block-printed long pajamas ($120). Have you ever worn mens-style pajamas? It feels so good to wear them around the house and read the newspaper on Sunday mornings. Chic and classic. And their prints are adorable!

My friend Julia Leach—the genius behind the clothing line Chance—has the most beautiful living room, filled with books, paintings and even a secret movie wall! My favorite touch was the Monopoly pieces on her bookcase. I interviewed her for Martha Stewart Living, and you can see the full post here, if you'd like. Thanks, Julia!
P.S. A nursery in a closet.
Today's giveaway is from Terrain, the beautiful home and garden shop now based in both Pennsylvania and Connecticut. The store is all about simple pleasures, from cooking to gardening to entertaining. Today, Terrain is offering one lucky reader a whopping $200 gift certificate. What would you pick? (I'd go for a bamboo swoop bowl for big salads, this lovely bud vase and grown-up fairy lights.)
Many days I wear flats, but they don't look that great with summer dresses. (My legs always feel short.) So, I recently got these peep-toe wedges. Wedges make your legs look long and lean, and this particular pair is super comfy. Also, they make me feel sexier when going out to dinner with Alex. Thoughts? (This yellow pair is cute, too.)
P.S. The Parisian wedges that started my love affair.
Picture this: You wake up on a Saturday morning, and a delicious scent is wafting up the stairs. The culprit? Blueberry muffins. With real berries. And crumble. Below, Jennifer from Bake or Break revels how to make this happen...

We just got back from a week-long trip to Chicago and Michigan to visit my parents. We hadn't spent much time in Chicago before (thanks again for your advice!) so it was awesome to explore all the neighborhoods. Here's what we did...
The Scuba Suit and LifeProof are 100% waterproof iPhone cases. Not only would they be great for taking swimming photos (underwater tea party, anyone?), but also for bringing your phone near pools, beaches, boats or anywhere it might get wet. (When I lugged our camera into the ocean last fall, Alex almost had a heart attack) Brilliant.
